Month: June 2019 (Page 2 of 3)

6/20/2019

–Roasted caf and decaf.

–Received notice from California Tax Board that I owed $849 use tax for a purchase from September 2018. Paid it. Very weird “purchase”: showed 3 DHL listings for around $5,000, $2,500 and $2,500 on same day from Portugal. Why were the amounts split up? I could investigate, but it would probably just serve to document my horrible memory.

6/19/2019

–Not much going on. Watched Thor–Ragnarok; pretty decent.

–Aldo’s bearclaws from El Patio for dessert.

6/18/2019

–Went to Ortega Nursery in Watsonville. Mind-boggling array of plants, more than half succulents. Most I’ve ever seen in one place. Bought a couple.

–Paid State Farm bills for auto (Civic) and home insurance.

6/17/2019

–Took Grace to endodontist Dr. Le on 41st. Good news: no root canal needed.

–Lunch at Burger King; shopping at New Leaf (again, not impressed).

6/16/2019

–Played with SCUBA stuff. Finally (re)got the Scubapro balanced/adjustable breathing nice by installing the lightest of 4 diaphragms. Ditto with brass-bodied Tekna. Discovered the Scubapro first stage wouldn’t take a “standard” HP hose connection, so swapped parts around a bit and built a nice one.

–Replaced hearing aid battery around 8 PM.

6/14/2019

–Mowed lawns.

–Decided to fix broken sprinkler line myself after messaging Michael Casserd to get a recommendation and hearing nothing back. Got a coupler at Ace (and a pizza at Showtime nearby). Installed it with great feat of strength; all good.

6/13/2019

–Took Boris T. Beemer to Lunardi’s in Los Gatos for apples and such. Had so-so lunch at Los Gatos Cafe.

–3rd Konosuke Fujiyama came in. Nice! Might keep it…

6/12/2019

–Killed iPhone SE while replacing battery. Second one I’ve killed. Wow.

–Tried to find and flag some sprinkler heads in front. Used the short hoe to uncover a sprinkler that gophers had buried. Chopped a large hole in the sprinkler line in the process. CRAP!

6/11/2019

–Looked at sprinklers. Sort of. Need to do much more cleanup of vegetation so we can actually see them.

–Replaced hearing aid battery around 6 PM.
